Schmidty Racing breaks down Baja 500

Schmidty Racing Breaks Down the Baja 500
The 2026 Baja 500 delivered everything fans have come to expect from one of off-road racing's most challenging events; speed, endurance, determination, and unforgettable moments. This year's race featured strong performances from several teams running Schmidty Racing Suspension products, and we couldn't be more proud of the effort and dedication shown by every competitor.
NORZA Race Team Battles Through Adversity
One of the standout performances came from the NORZA Race Team and driver Manny Racing. Competing in the Pro Stock Class, Manny was running our custom spring kit and Progressive Suspension Method paired with FOX shocks. The team fought hard throughout the race and maintained a position inside the top five for the majority of the event.
Unfortunately, a devastating front A-arm failure late in the race significantly impacted their finishing position. While the result wasn't what the team had worked toward, their pace, determination, and performance throughout the race were impressive. We would like to congratulate Manny and the entire NORZA team on a fantastic effort and look forward to seeing them back on course soon.
Ivan Rivera Earns Podium Finish
We would also like to congratulate Ivan Rivera on an outstanding third-place finish in the Pro UTV F.I. Class.
This race marked Ivan's first competition running Schmidty Racing's custom-tuned and custom-sprung Bilstein Black Hawk suspension package on his MAV R. Achieving a podium finish in his first race on the setup is a tremendous accomplishment and a testament to both Ivan's driving ability and the hard work put into preparing the vehicle.
We are extremely excited to see what Ivan can accomplish in future events and look forward to supporting him throughout the remainder of the season. A podium finish in his first race on Schmidty Racing Bilstein Black Hawks is a strong statement, and we believe it is only the beginning.
A Moment of Reflection
While the Baja 500 is a celebration of competition and achievement, it is also important to recognize the risks that come with the sport we all love.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of the rider who tragically lost their life near Mile 324 during the multi-day race through Baja California. The off-road racing community is a close-knit family, and our hearts are with everyone affected by this loss.
We would also like to keep Hugo, Sebastian, Esteban, and Jane in our thoughts following a head-on collision that occurred while they were returning from a video shoot location. We wish each of them strength and healing during this difficult time.
Looking Ahead
The Baja 500 once again showcased the incredible talent, determination, and resilience that define off-road racing. From hard-fought battles at the front of the field to podium finishes and moments that remind us of the importance of community, this year's race was one that will not soon be forgotten.
Thank you to all the teams, drivers, crews, and supporters who continue to push the sport forward. We are proud to be part of your journey and look forward to seeing everyone back on the starting line soon.
