ZoneControl Technology
The Bilstein Blackhawk features patented ZoneControl technology — 5 distinct damping zones built into the shock piston (3 compression, 2 rebound). This means the shock responds differently at different shaft velocities — soft and compliant at low shaft speeds for small bumps, progressively firmer at higher shaft speeds for big hits. Most conventional shocks use a single damping characteristic across all shaft velocities. ZoneControl gives you five.
Jounce Cut Off (JCO) — Built-In Hydraulic Bump Stop
One of the most unique features of the Bilstein Blackhawk is the built-in Jounce Cut Off system. The JCO acts as a hydraulic bump stop inside the shock body — providing progressive bottom-out resistance that increases dramatically as the shock approaches full travel.
