Off-Road Truck Suspension Installer Mesa AZ — Performance Builds, Not Just Lift Kits
Off-Road Truck Suspension Installer Mesa, AZ — Performance Builds Done Right
If you're looking for a truck suspension installer in Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Scottsdale, or the Phoenix metro area — there's an important distinction worth understanding before you call any shop.
Most truck suspension shops in Phoenix install lift kits. They carry popular leveling kits and body lifts, they know how to make your truck look taller, and they do it quickly. If appearance is your goal, those shops work fine.
Schmidty Racing Suspensions is different. We're a performance suspension specialist — focused on building trucks that actually perform in the Arizona desert, on rocky trails, at Glamis, at Johnson Valley, and on sustained high-speed desert runs. There's a meaningful difference between a truck that looks lifted and a truck that's built to perform off-road. We build the latter.
What Makes a Performance Suspension Build Different
Suspension Travel — Not Just Height
A 4-inch lift kit raises your truck 4 inches but doesn't add suspension travel — your wheels still move the same amount up and down that they did stock. When you hit a rock or a bump at speed, your suspension still runs out of travel at the same point.
A mid travel or long travel suspension system actually increases how far your suspension can move — 2-4 inches for mid travel, 4-8+ inches for long travel. That additional travel is what absorbs terrain at speed, keeps your tires on the ground in rough conditions, and makes a truck genuinely capable off-road.
Geometry — Not Just Parts
When you lift a truck, the factory control arm geometry was not designed for that height. Ball joints go to bad angles. CV axles stress. Caster changes. A proper performance build corrects these geometry issues with aftermarket upper control arms, corrected spindles where needed, and proper alignment — not just bolted-on spacers that ignore what happens to the geometry underneath.
Shock Quality and Setup
The shocks are the heart of any suspension system. A cheap shock bolted into an expensive suspension kit delivers cheap shock performance regardless of what surrounds it. At Schmidty Racing, shock setup is our core expertise — we set up every shock with correct preload, verified nitrogen pressure, and damping adjusted for your vehicle weight and intended use.
What We Install
Mid Travel Suspension Systems
Mid travel kits add 2-4 inches of additional front suspension travel beyond stock while maintaining street drivability. The right choice for daily driven trucks that see regular trail and desert use. We install mid travel systems from Dirt King and other premium brands for all major truck platforms.
Long Travel Suspension Systems
Long travel kits are serious front suspension conversions — providing 4-8+ inches of additional front travel for trucks built for serious desert and trail performance. Long travel builds require precision installation and proper alignment — this is not a job for a general mechanic. We install long travel systems from Dirt King and other premium manufacturers.
Upper Control Arms (UCAs)
The most common first step in any performance truck build — aftermarket UCAs correct ball joint and caster geometry at lifted heights while increasing shock travel. We install Dirt King 4130 and billet UCAs for all supported platforms.
Coilovers and Performance Shocks
We install and set up Dirt King, Fox, King, and Bilstein coilovers and shocks — and as a suspension specialist we understand how to set them up correctly, not just how to bolt them in.
Shock Rebuild and Service
Unique among suspension installers in the Phoenix area — we also rebuild and revalve shocks. If your existing shocks need service alongside your suspension install, we handle it all in the same visit. We Help You Pick What's Right for Your Budget and Goals
This is something we take seriously. The suspension upgrade world has a lot of options at a lot of price points — and the right choice depends entirely on how you use your truck, your budget, and what you're trying to achieve.
We don't upsell. We don't push the most expensive option. We ask the right questions and recommend what actually makes sense for your specific situation:
- How do you primarily use your truck? Daily driver with weekend trail rides? Serious desert runner? Building toward racing? The answer changes everything about what we recommend.
- What's your
